The purpose of the Neighbourhood Character Study is to provide advice about council’s preferred housing location and design outcomes as an extension of that which is presently within the Planning Scheme to support new residential development and to enhance neighbourhood character.
Such advice complements existing planning scheme frameworks and the Clause 22.09 Planning Scheme policy by providing further detail on:
- How different residential areas throughout the municipality are planned to change in the future
- What type and form of new housing will be encouraged in different parts of the municipality
- Important considerations for designing new multi-dwelling housing in different parts of the city
