Council’s Food Service provides a range of quality meals to the home when it becomes difficult for people to cook for themselves. The meals are prepared by a state-of-the-art purpose built facility in Altona. This facility has been established by 20 Victorian local governments.
The meals portions fulfil guidelines set by the Home and Community Care (HACC) program and are in line with the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and Dietary Guidelines for Australians.
Delivery of meals is undertaken by Greater Dandenong volunteers from a purpose built distribution centre within the municipality.
Seasonal menus based on a four week rotation are provided. Each day recipients can choose a main meal, a side dish, a sweet, and fruit or yoghurt. They also receive a soup and juice.
Contact the Community Care Information and Referral Officer on 8558 7902.
Cook-chilled meals are delivered to homes by community volunteers who generously give their time to help others.
To assist the volunteers it is important that the recipient is home for the delivery.
