Neighbourhood Houses & Community Centres

The City of Greater Dandenong supports eight Neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres. They all offer a wide range of courses, programs and activities for the community. These include playgroups, craft and activity groups, computer classes, literacy classes, dance and exercise and many others where you can join in and make new friends, gain new skills and share experiences.

Learn Local is for everyone!

Every year over 100,000 Victorians choose to learn through Learn Local organisations. From Melbourne to Mildura to Mallacoota, there is a Learn Local organisation near you that offers a range of adult community education and training programs for people from all walks of life.

No matter what level of education or training you have had in the past, Learn Local can help. New skills can be life changing, offering job choices, further education and the chance to interact with others in your Learn Local community. Courses range from basic computer skills to Certificates and Diplomas in business or community services. The focus is on individual needs, tailoring programs for both the learner and businesses

You just need to decide what to learn, where and how, and you can start your Learn Local experience!

Vision: ‘Valuing our Community’

Mission: ‘The City of Greater Dandenong cluster of neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres work together to provide community connections, quality programs and activities and lifelong learning opportunities within the City of Greater Dandenong.’

What is a Neighbourhood House or Community Centre?

A Neighbourhood House or Community Centre provides a safe and caring environment offering a wide range of activities and programs for all ages, backgrounds, abilities and interests. A local place where people can come together to share a mutual interest, learn new skills and make new friends. They are home to a range of community groups within the City of Greater Dandenong and offer low cost meeting rooms and facilities for hire.

What can you do at a Neighbourhood House and Community Centre?

The range of activities and programs is only limited by your imagination. You can learn to paint, speak another language, write that novel that is hidden away or take up belly dancing or yoga.
