The City of Greater Dandenong's Long Term Financial Strategy not only plans for the ongoing financial sustainability of the Council, but also works to ensure Council assets are maintained in the future. However this document is not set in stone, but instead provides a blueprint for Council to work from. The biggest financial challenge facing Council is funding its asset renewal. Council’s assets were largely constructed between the 1960s and 1980s and would need to replaced over the next decade. The Long Term Financial Strategy provides a responsible framework that balances the need for more infrastructure funding with affordable rates. Council reviews this strategy annually, with the next review currently underway, as part of the Annual Budget process.
