Burning off

Burning off is generally not permitted due the negative environmental and amenity impacts. Refuse and waste is to be disposed of by means other than burning.

In the extremely rare circumstances, where no other means are available, a burning off permit may be considered. A permit will not be issued during a declared fire danger period.

Applying for a local law permit

Before lodging a permit application, you are encouraged to contact Council to discuss your situation with a Fire Prevention Officer. The site must be inspected by them and they will make the decision on whether a permit will be issued.

To apply for a permit to burn off complete an application for a local law permit form (PDF - 332KB).

Fees apply and must be paid at time of application. See local law permits fee schedule (90.5KB) for current fees.
