Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres
The City of Greater Dandenong supports eight Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres. These community facilities provide a safe and caring environment for people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and interests to participate in a wide range of activities and programs. They are also home to a range of community groups within the City of Greater Dandenong and offer low cost meeting rooms and facilities for hire.
The City of Greater Dandenong's cluster of Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres work together to provide community connections, quality programs and activities and lifelong learning opportunities within the local area.

What can you do at a Neighbourhood House and Learning Centre?
The range of activities and programs is only limited by your imagination. You can learn to paint, speak another language, take up belly dancing or yoga and much more. You can also go there to receive information on a range of other local services in your area.
Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres form an integral part of the social fabric of the City of Greater Dandenong. They contribute to social inclusion through the provision of key community activities for residents that range across all life stages including a focus on adult education, lifelong learning and pathways to employment, volunteer engagement and social and recreational programs.

Learn Local at your Neighbourhood House or Learning Centre
No matter what level of education or training you have had in the past, Learn Local can help. New skills can be life-changing, offering job choices, further education and the chance to interact with others in your Learn Local community. Courses range from basic computer skills to Certificates and Diplomas in business or community services. The focus is on individual needs, tailoring programs for both the learner and businesses.

Who manages the Neighbourhood House or Learning Centre?
Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres are managed by incorporated community based voluntary committees of management. Paid staff support the day to day operations and along with volunteers the Houses are able to provide low cost and welcoming places for the community. Your involvement is welcomed and valued.
