About Sean:

I live in Springvale, am married with three children and am an active member of the local community.

I have been interested in promoting ideas since the age of 16 when I was elected Student Body President with an 80% majority. I learned at a young age that there was great knowledge and success to be gained by listening to, and subsequently helping people.

My passion for politics grew during the Hawke and Keating political era when I was impressed by the way both leaders confidently advocated for ideas that were not popular at the time, but were the right thing to do for the long term. At the age of 21, I joined the Labor Party and became active in Young Labor. I was a candidate in the 1997 Glen Eira Council elections, which I narrowly lost by two votes.

I spent three years working overseas in Ireland and England. The greatest thing I learnt while living overseas and comparing lifestyles was how fortunate we were to live in Australia and that we must make sure that fairness and opportunity are always paramount.

I am President of Springvale Rise Primary School Council and have been on school council since 2008.

In 2012, I was elected to Greater Dandenong Council as a councillor for Lightwood Ward, where I received the highest primary vote in the municipality.

In 2015, I represented Greater Dandenong as Mayor. I promoted community pride during my mayoral term and supported projects that further developed Greater Dandenong as a city which is a vibrant, connected and caring place.

While on council I have pushed for low rates, fair expenditure of council money across the municipality, and better management of traffic and parking.
