How to become a library member
Library membership is free.
For a full library membership, simply visit Springvale or Dandenong library and provide;
• One form of photo ID with proof of current address OR
• Two separate forms of ID with proof of current address OR
• A combination of one form of photo ID AND one form of ID with proof of current address
Acceptable forms of proof of address can be:
• Utility bills or Council rates bill
• Lease / Tenancy agreements
• Bank statements or official letters
• Official communication from academic institutions, Government departments, police and law courts.
Please note, children under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present to sign their membership card and accept the conditions of use that apply to computer and WiFi access at the libraries.
Passports, drivers licences and photo ID cards must be original, hard copies. Some forms of ID are acceptable in electronic format ( e.g bills, bank statements).
For a temporary visitors membership:
For temporary visitors to the library, a three month membership with limited resources access is available.
Any ID is acceptable (with or without a photo).
Temporary online membership
A temporary online membership can be created though The Vault. This will give you three months of free access to some eresources and enable you to place holds online.
Next time you visit the library in person, you can present a current photo identity card, with residential information (eg driver's licence) and staff will provide you with a permanent membership card.

Greater Dandenong Libraries' members can use their library card directly at over 100 Swift Libraries across Victoria.

Lost membership cards
If your card is lost, misplaced or stolen, report it to the library as soon as possible to prevent the card's use by someone else. Items borrowed, lost or damaged on your card remain the responsibility of the card holder.
There is a small fee to issue a replacement membership card.
Change of address
If you change your address, contact the libraries so they can update your records.
