Sustainability Awards

The Greater Dandenong Sustainability Awards recognise the community's efforts that help make our community and environment a more sustainable place to live work and play.

The awards identify champions in our community whose achievements can be seen and adopted by others. In its third year, the awards recognise leadership and innovation in sustainability, rewarding those striving to help make Greater Dandenong one of the most sustainable municipalities in Australia.

2018 Sustainability Awards are now open for all categories

Entries for the 2018 Sustainability Awards are now open. Submissions close 4pm on Thursday 25 January 2018.

Award categories

Sustainable Community

Recognises schools (of any size), homes, individuals and community groups.

Sustainable Business

Recognises commercial, industrial, retail and other businesses of any size.

Sustainable Development

Recognises buildings designed or constructed with a environmental sustainability focus. Includes existing and newly constructed buildings or proposed buildings with a planning permit. 

Healthy waterways video competition

Invites residents between the ages of 5 and 25 years to create a short video that promotes waterway health. 

Presentation Ceremony

Award winners will be contacted to attend presentation ceremonies. More information will follow regarding the ceremonies.

Announcement of winners:

  • Sustainable Community Awards and Video Competition - Winners will be announced at the Greater Dandenong Sustainability Festival on Sunday 25 February 2018 at the Dandenong Market.
  • Sustainable Business and Sustainable Development – Winners will be announced at an industry-event hosted by Council in March 2018. More information on the ceremony will follow once entries are submitted.


2017 award winners

The 2017 winner and finalists in the Community category were announced at the Sustainability Festival on Sunday 4 March 2017. Congratulations to the 2017 winner and finalists:

  • Winner - Yarraman Oaks Primary School
  • Finalist - Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association
  • Finalist  - Athol Road Primary School
  • Finalist - Noble Park Gardening Club
  • Finalist - Keysborough Resurrection - School Community Swap Group

 

Congratulations to the 2017 Business and Development winners and runner-ups which were announced in March 2017.  

  • Business Category Winner: Waste Converters / Smart Recycling
  • Business Category Runner-up: Biofuel Innovations 
  • Development Category Winner: The Quarter, Springvale
  • Development Category Runner-up: Somerfield Estate, Keysborough

 

The Healthy Waterways video competition is still accepting submissions until 4pm, 25 January 2018.
