Level Crossing Removal Project
From 2015 to 2023, the Victorian Government will remove 50 of the worst level crossings in Melbourne to improve safety, reduce congestion and enable more frequent train services. This will include the removal of the following level crossings in Greater Dandenong:
A Level Crossing Removal Authority has been established to deliver the program. The authority will oversee construction of each level crossing removal to ensure they are delivered in a coordinated and efficient way. Planning and early consultation has started across Melbourne on the delivery of the full program of 50 level crossing removals.

Level Crossing Removal Project Year in Review Report
Council recently reviewed the Level Crossing Removal Project – Caulfield to Dandenong first year of operation. The related report, considered by Council at its 24 July meeting, provides a review of the Level Crossing Removal Authority (the “LXRA”) performance over the preceding twelve-month period relative to questions and issues raised by Council at its meeting on 11 April 2016.
Discussion of Council’s advocacy on behalf of the Greater Dandenong Community for maximising the Project’s social benefit and investment in local infrastructure, is also included in the report.
