Playground proposal

The City of Greater Dandenong is planning to replace the old playground with a new larger neighbourhood playground.

The playground in Coomoora Reserve will be designed to encourage active, challenging, imaginative and social play for
both younger and older children.

Council is seeking local residents feedback on the equipment ideas (see images) or other sugguestions you may have. Any
thoughts or suggestions may help inform the direction of the concept design and selection of the playground equipment.

The upgrade to the playground area includes:  

  • A new neighbourhood playground
  • Rubber surfaced access paths to the swings and other equipment to improve all ability access
  • A shelter, picnic table, BBQ, park seating and bike hoops 
  • Footpath 
  • New tree planting

Ideas and opportunities for the playground

1. Challenging Rope Play Activity Tower with elements such as:

  • climbing rope nets, monkey bars or climbing walls 
  • 1 or 2 slides (different heights)
  • platform decks at different heights
  • rock climbing wall panel or scramble net
  • firemans pole or similar
  • rotating elements
  • multiple climbing elements

2. Triple swing (includes 1 x toddler swing)

3. Free standing basket swing

4. Rotating carousel

5. Free standing small multi play structure for young children

6. See-saw

7. Play hut with built-in play panels ie. maze, shop front, talking tubes, port hole, tic-tac-toc or abacus

8. Spring riders

9. Quad springer (up to 4 children)
