Help Shape the Future of WJ Turner Reserve
Community Consultation Summary - Stage 1
Thank you once again to everyone who participated in the online forums and face-to-face consultations. Council has been really pleased with the broad cross section of community members’ interest and input in the project. Overwhelming responses were provided online and the park drop-in day.
The key ideas for Wal Turner Reserve were:
Provide more park amenities such as bbq and picnic facilities, seating, drinking fountains and tree planting for shade to support social recreation
Introduce more walking paths around the park to support the informal walking and cycling recreation
Support for the reconfiguration, containment or relocation of the sports facilities and recreation activities to improve the use of park’s space and to respond to nearby residents’ concerns over stray cricket and golf balls not being contained within the park boundary
Improvements to the sports facilities so they meet local needs, especially upgrading the sports pavilion and spectator facilities and opportunities to improve the sports grounds
Improvements to the playground, including providing shade, seating and additional social infrastructure
Improvements to people’s perception of safety in the park through maintenance and design responses to this issue
Feedback received will be fed directly into the development of the draft Wal Turner Reserve Master Plan that Council is currently working on. Counicl will report back to you when the next stage of community consultation on the draft master plan will be commencing.
Thank you once again to everyone who participated in the online forums and face-to-face consultations. Your feedback on the Future of Parks in Greater Dandenong is invaluable.
