Living Colour Floral Displays

Dandenong is alive with colour due to an ongoing floral display program in the heart of the city. The positive impact of fresh flowers on the street for pedestrians to enjoy has been widely recognised.  Each display lasts between six to twelve weeks across a range of locations including Palm Plaza, Foster Street, Thomas Street, Lonsdale Street and Walker Street.

A successful trial display in early 2007 resulted in Council committing to an ongoing program and investing in 80 relocatable floral crates, each with a capacity to hold 25 pots of flowers.

One of the most popular displays occurred in Palm Plaza when the seasonal flowers were enhanced by a unique Christmas themed decoration.

Expert gardeners from Council’s Parks unit oversee the program and maintain the displays once they are in place. Council uses recycled water to keep the displays looking beautiful.
