Buckingham Avenue Streetscape Works

Works occured in Buckingham Avenue Springvale between September 2008 and December 2008, as part of a $750,000 streetscape upgrade.

Powerlines were moved underground, new public lighting installed, footpaths upgraded, and additional street trees are to be planted as part of the Stage 2 works at the southern half of Buckingham Avenue, between Windsor and Balmoral avenues.

Road resurfacing will occur in 2010. This has been delayed due to the heavy vehicle construction traffic anticipated with the adjacent development (see below).

Council completed Stage 1 of the project between Queens Avenue and Balmoral Avenue in 2005.

The streetscape works are part of Council’s commitment to revitalising central Springvale and not only improve amenity but help make the area more visually appealing.

Additional funding:

Greater Dandenong has also received $375,000 funding through the Federal Government's Community Infrastructure Program announced for the fourth stage of the streetscape works at the corners of Balmoral, Buckingham and Windsor avenues in Springvale.

This will include the installation of Asian inspired street lights, seats and other furniture; tree planting, footpath upgrades and moving power lines below ground. More information on Community Infrastructure Program.

'Number 8' development
8 Balmoral Avenue, Springvale

Construction has began on ‘Number 8’ in Balmoral Avenue, Springvale.

The development includes three multi-storey buildings on the site at 8 Balmoral Avenue.

The 18-month project will include the construction of two buildings for retail use, as well as a six-level car park with retail on the ground floor and twenty-four residential townhouses on levels two and three.

A multi-deck public car park will also be built to replace the existing Council car park.

Once the project is complete more than 300 additional car parking spaces will be available.

Some car parking disruptions are expected during the construction period. People are encouraged to park further away, catch public transport or cycle to the Springvale shopping precinct.

Once completed however, the number of car parking spaces available in Balmoral Avenue will increase to more than 500.

This is an exciting project and will be a fantastic addition to Springvale.
