Creative workshops: Sticks and Stories
Writer Nadine Evans-Ker and Visual Artist Gabby Willmott have combined their skills to create symbolic, reflective art pieces. Using recycled and found materials Gabby and Nadine create meaningful structures and installations.\
The art creation portion of their current project, ‘Belonging and Community’, has provided multiple opportunities for self-reflexion, learning, sharing, and growth.
During this workshop we will be reflecting upon the thoughts, feelings, and memories that come to mind when considering the words Belonging and Community. Participants will be provided the opportunity and materials to form their own unique art structure with this theme in mind. Gracing the papers provided with their chosen words, gathering sticks of varying size and strength, and binding them together while strengthening with words, fabrics, papers, and threads.
Each week for three weeks Gabby and Nadine will facilitate the exploration of a new step as the structures emerge from contemplation to formation. A gentle exploratory process using natural and recycled materials to create from feeling.
