Fun Festival with a focus on Sustainability
14 March 2019
Greater Dandenong’s Sustainability Festival is back next month for its sixth year.
Join us at Dandenong Market on Sunday 7 April and learn how to incorporate simple sustainable practices into your everyday lives.
This free family-friendly festival celebrates sustainability through a range of fun activities, interactive displays and live performances.
Greater Dandenong Mayor Councillor Roz Blades said the festival was designed to inspire and empower.
She said this year Council is encouraging people who attend the festival to bring their own bags.
“It doesn’t take a lot to make a difference and this festival is proof of that,” she said.
“Our hope is that every person that attends the festival will leave with practical advice that they can put into practice at home or in the workplace.”
“The simple act of bringing your own reusable bag is one way you can make a positive difference to the sustainability footprint of our city.”
This year’s event will feature free face painting and children’s activities, free pedal-powered smoothies, take home vegetable seeds to plant your own edible garden, live native animal displays and cooking demonstrations.
With the festival’s focus on green living, anyone who rides their bike to the event will also receive a free bike service and full bike pimping. Reusable cups are also being encouraged at the event. The first 100 people that bring their reusable cup to the Dandenong Market Tavern will receive a free hot beverage.
The 2019 Sustainability Awards will also be launched at this year’s festival.
The Greater Dandenong Sustainability Festival will be held on Sunday 7 February from 10am to 3pm.
