Unwrapped: Celebration of LGBTIQA+ Arts and Culture

Unwrapped was an exciting celebration of LGBTIQA+ Arts and Culture hosted by The City of Greater Dandenong that supports local LGBTIQA+ artists and communities, through exhibitions, performances, events and workshops from the 18-30 November 2020. All elements of the Unwrapped program were free, and accessible through various online platforms.

The events provided pathways that lead to social change through the creation, development and delivery of a diverse and inclusive arts and culture program of events and activities. 

The City of Greater Dandenong supports diversity in all its forms, and programs like Unwrapped provide inclusive, safe spaces for self-expression and celebration.

Ryan Pola

Ryan Pola is a Melbourne based artist renowned for his detailed and meticulous drawings. In creating works for Unwrapped: Celebration of LGBTIQA+ Arts and Culture, Ryan Pola wanted to pull apart different facets of his own identity. Within these drawings he looks at the nature of our hubris and how we often have a tug-of-war with identity. For Ryan, drawing is a process that allows him to peer behind the veil that we often present to the world.

Jonathan Homsey is an arts maker and manager interested in the intersection of street dance, visual art and social engagement; he has a passion for community outreach using the moving body as a source of empowerment.

Gala Hallelujah is a sound shaman working in the mediums of voice and lyric to divine supernatural and otherworldly experiences for audiences.

Chelle De-stefano

Chelle De-Stefano is a Melbourne is a deaf visual artist born in and living in. Her practice includes performance, video, textiles, installation and drawing, and these are often intersected into one body.
