The City of Greater Dandenong is committed to working with local residents, businesses and service providers to build and strengthen our community and ensure people of all abilities are welcome and feel included.
The Disability Action Plan 2016-23 and Disability Policy will guide Council’s actions over the next eight years to ensure all members of our community are involved, active and engaged. They supports the direction of the Imagine 2030 Community Plan, Council Plan 2013-17 and Community Wellbeing Plan 2013-17.
The information and action plan contained within the draft plan and policy have been drawn from an extensive consultation process with the Greater Dandenong community.

Key themes
The Disability Action Plan 2016-23 and Disability Policy have been developed in the context of the Council Plan 2013-17 and the key themes of People, Place and Opportunity.
The draft Disability Action Plan 2016-23 aims to improve the lives of people with a disability through focusing on what enables people to participate in and belong to our community by prioritising:
health and wellbeing
community participation
physical and natural environment
education, training and employment.
Aims
By implementing the Disability Action Plan 2016-23 Council aims to:
support the health and wellbeing of people with a disability in our community through improved access to health services and health information, and responding to the needs and increasing the capacity of the community to advocate for change
support education, training and employment opportunities for people with a disability through Council programs, business education and networking
support a well maintained and accessible physical and natural environment
support increased community participation for people with a disability.
